As we head into 2023, there is plenty of original content heading to Disney+ to keep us entertained, with shows, shorts and series from Disney’s studios, including Marvel, National Geographic, Star Wars, 20th Century Studios, Pixar and many more.

Here’s a look at some of the new originals coming to Disney+ in 2023 and this list is just of the titles we know about, as there will no doubt be some more shows, shorts and films heading to the streaming service that haven’t yet been announced.

Rennervations

“RENNERVATIONS,” is an original four-part series that embraces Jeremy Renner’s lifelong passion to give back
to communities around the world by reimagining unique purpose-built vehicles to meet a community’s needs.
Behind the big screen, Jeremy is a construction aficionado, and he is heavily invested in the highly creative
fabricator culture that exists across the globe and hopes to change lives with these skills and inspire others to
do the same.


Peter Pan & Wendy

Directed by David Lowery and produced by Jim Whitaker, the live-action reimagining of the 1953 animated classic will stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2023.


American Born Chinese

Based on the genre-hopping graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang, “American Born Chinese” tells the story of Jin Wang, an average teenager juggling his high school social life with his home life. When he meets a new student on the first day of the school year, even more worlds collide as Jin is unwittingly entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods.

This brand new series will be coming to Disney+ in 2023


Prom Pact

It is the height of prom season, but high school senior Mandy Yang has her sights set on a singular goal: attending Harvard. When she finds out she has been deferred, she is determined to do whatever she can to get herself off the waitlist, even if that means asking the one person who represents everything she abhors – popular all-star jock Graham Lansing, whose father is a powerful Senator and Harvard alum. Once Mandy becomes Graham’s tutor, she begins to realize there’s more to him than she thought, and perhaps something more to life than Harvard as well. When Graham’s father offers to recommend Mandy to Harvard, will she choose to take this boost, even if it comes at the cost of what she stands for?

This brand-new film will be coming to Disney+ in 2023


Iwaju

Coming to Disney+ in 2023 is “Iwájú,” an all-new original long-form series created in collaboration with Pan-African comic book entertainment company Kugali. The coming-of-age story introduces Tola, a young heiress from the wealthy island, and her best friend Kole, a self-taught tech expert and loving son from the mainland.

This brand new animated series will be coming to Disney+ in 2023


Chang Can Dunk

“Chang Can Dunk” follows Chang, a 16-year-old, Asian American high school student in the marching band, who bets the school basketball star that he can dunk by Homecoming. The bet leads the 5’ 8″ Chang on a quest to find the hops he needs to dunk in order to impress his crush, Kristy, and finally gain the attention and respect of his high school peers. But before he can rise up and truly throw one down, he’ll have to reexamine everything he knows about himself, his friendships and his family.

“Chang Can Dunk” will be coming to Disney+ in 2023


Crater

Crater is an upcoming American coming-of-age science fiction adventure film directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez from a screenplay by John Griffin.  The film will be a coming-of-age story in the vein of “Stand By Me,” which will be set on a moon colony. After the death of his father, a boy growing up on a lunar mining colony takes a trip to explore a mysterious crater, along with his four best friends, prior to being permanently relocated to another planet.

“Crater” will be coming exclusively to Disney+ in 2023


 

The Muppets Mayhem

The comedy series follows The Electric Mayhem Band — Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone and Lips on trumpet — on an epic, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album. With the help of a driven young music executive, Nora, the old-school Muppet band comes face to face with the current-day music scene as they try to finally go platinum.

This all-new Muppets series will be coming to Disney+ in 2023


Chasing Waves

In the wake of surfing’s Olympic debut in Tokyo, “Chasing Waves” shines a spotlight on the people and places that are defining Japan’s reach in the global surf culture. This character-driven documentary series follows multicultural athletes in pursuit of their dreams, paints a captivating picture of Japanese life and showcases what it takes to succeed in the international surf industry.

“Chasing Waves” is coming to Disney+ on Wednesday 11th January 2023


Gina Yei

Gina, a cheerful and creative girl, has a dream to write songs. Thanks to her lyric-writing abilities, she gets the chance of a lifetime when she wins a scholarship to the prestigious Caribbean Music Institute (CMI) on the island of Puerto Rico. It’s the best place in the world to study Latin music and the birthplace of reggaeton.

Gina Yei is coming to Disney+ on Wednesday 11th January 2023


The Proud Family – Louder & Prouder – Season 2

“The Proud Family” revival picks up the story of its central character, Penny Proud, and her iconic family: parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and grandmother Suga Mama (and Puff!). By Penny’s side is her loyal crew: Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez, Zoey Howzer, Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins and Michael Collins.

The second season of “The Proud Family: Louder & Prouder” is coming to Disney+ on February 1st 2023.


National Treasure: Edge Of History

Jess Valenzuela’s life is turned upside down when an enigmatic stranger gives her a clue to a centuries-old treasure that might be connected to her long-dead father. Jess has a knack for solving puzzles, and her skills are put to the test as she and her friends follow a series of clues hidden in American artifacts and landmarks. But can Jess outsmart a black-market antiquities dealer in a race to find history’s greatest lost treasure and unbury the truth about her family’s past?

New episodes of “National Treasure: Edge Of History” are being released on Disney+ throughout January and February 2023.


Duffy & Friends

Mickey’s favorite teddy bear, Duffy, is a favorite of fans in all three Disney resorts in Asia, and during the presentation, D’Amaro shared that Duffy & Friends will star in their very own six-episode, stop-motion animated series on Disney+ next year.

Duffy is the cute, loveable teddy bear handmade as a gift for Mickey by his sweetheart Minnie Mouse. Together, Duffy and Mickey travel the world sharing exciting adventures and making lifelong friends, including ShellieMay, Gelatoni, StellaLou and CookieAnn.


If These Walls Could Sing

For more than 90 years, Abbey Road Studios has been at the heart of the music industry. Fans journey every year to have their photo taken at the world-famous zebra crossing, and artists strive to follow in the footsteps of their heroes. In this personal film of memory and discovery, Mary McCartney guides us through nine decades to see and experience the creative magic that makes it the most famous and longest-running studio in the world. From classical to pop, film scores to hip-hop,

“If These Walls Could Sing” is coming to Disney+ around the world on Friday, 6th January 2023.


Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage?

Beloved Tony Award-winning actress and singer Idina Menzel’s many triumphs include iconic Broadway roles in productions of “Rent” and “Wicked” as well as the legendary voice of Elsa in Disney’s “Frozen.” Yet, one dream goal has evaded her grasp: to perform a concert at the world-famous Madison Square Garden in her hometown of New York City. From Disney Branded Television and Ideal Partners comes the joyous, inspirational and in-depth look at Idina Menzel as you’ve never seen her before. In “Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage?,” filmmaker Anne McCabe follows Menzel on a national tour over the course of 16 shows as she juggles the challenges of being a working mom with a gruelling travel schedule, all while preparing finally to realize her dream.

“Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage?” is coming to Disney+ around the world on January 20th 2023.


Star Wars


Star Wars: The Bad Batch – Season 2

When the new season opens, months have passed since the events on Kamino, and the Bad Batch continues their journey navigating the Empire after the fall of the Republic. They will cross paths with friends and foes, both new and familiar, as they take on a variety of thrilling mercenary missions that will take them to unexpected and dangerous new places.

The second season of “The Bad Batch” is due to arrive on Disney+ on Wednesday, 4th January 2023, with a double episode premiere and new episodes being released weekly through to the end of March.


Star Wars: The Mandalorian – Season 3

In the third season of “The Mandalorian,” the Mandalorian and Grogu have been reunited and continue their journey through the lawless galaxy. Season 3 is set to launch exclusively on Disney+ in 2023. Kennedy and Colin Wilson also executive produce, with Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck as co-executive producers.  The third season stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Amy Sedaris, Giancarlo Esposito and Emily Swallow.

“The Mandalorian” returns on Wednesday, 1st March 2023, with new episodes being released weekly afterwards.


Star Wars: Ahsoka

This all-new live-action series heading to Disney+ starring Rosario Dawson in the title role. Set after the fall of the Empire, “Ahsoka” follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.  This new series is set within the same time period as “The Mandalorian” and will introduce Thrawn, Ezra and Sabine from “Rebels” into the live-action Star Wars Universe.  The new series is slated for 2023 and will be exclusive to Disney+.  The executive producers are Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Carrie Beck, with Karen Gilchrist as co-executive producer.

No exact Disney+ release date for “Ahsoka” has been announced yet.


Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

From creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, “Skeleton Crew” tells the story of four kids who find themselves lost in in the vastness of the galaxy, trying to find their way home.   Jude Law stars in the series, along with Kyriana Kratter and Ravi Cabot-Conyers.  Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Michelle Rejwan will also be executive producers on the show.

No exact Disney+ release date for “Skeleton Crew” has been announced yet.


Star Wars: Visions – Season 2

“Star Wars: Visions” stretches beyond any one form of animation and serves as a broader framework for celebratory expressions of Star Wars storytelling. Volume 2 will showcase that potential as the shorts go on a global tour, celebrating the incredible animation happening across countries and cultures, through the mythos of Star Wars.

The new season of “Star Wars: Visions” launches exclusively on Disney+ in Spring 2023.


Marvel


“What If…?” flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways. Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU, featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles. Season 2 of “What If…?” will release exclusively on Disney+ and the first season is available to stream now.

The second season of the fan-favourite animated series. After enlisting the Guardians of the Multiverse to stop Infinity Ultron, The Watcher returns in Season 2 of What If…? to meet new heroes and explore more strange new worlds in the MCU’s ever-expanding Multiverse. Directed by Executive Producer Bryan Andrews and written by Executive Producer AC Bradley.

The second season of “What If?” is coming to Disney+ in early 2023.


Secret Invasion

“Secret Invasion” stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos—characters who first met in Captain Marvel. They are joined by Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, and Olivia Colman.  The crossover event series showcases a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

“Secret Invasion” is coming to Disney+ in early 2023.


Echo

This is a spin-off series that follows the events of the Disney+ Original series “Hawkeye”, Maya Lopez’s ruthless behaviour in New York City catches up with her in her hometown.  This series will see Alaqua Cox return as the deaf Native American superhero who can perfectly copy her opponents in battle.   Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) will be returning for this series, along with Charlie Cox as Daredevil.    Also starring in this new series will be Chaske Spencer (“Wild Indian”), Tantoo Cardinal (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), Devery Jacobs (“Reservation Dogs”) and Cody Lightning (“Hey, Viktor!”).

“Echo” is coming to Disney+ in the summer of 2023, though there are reports it may be delayed


Loki – Season 2

Following the successful first season of “Loki”, the second season will see Tom Hiddleston as the titular character, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong and Rafael Casal return. We don’t know what the second season is about yet, but with this series introducing the concept of the Multiverse, which is the major theme of phases 4, 5 and 6, this is probably going to be one of the most important series to watch on Disney+.

The second season of “Loki” is coming to Disney+ in the summer of 2023.


Ironheart

The series stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.  The character was introduced to the MCU in the latest film, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.

“Ironheart” is coming to Disney+ in Fall 2023.


X-Men ’97

This new animated series from Marvel Studios explores new stories in the iconic 90s timeline of the original series. Written by Executive Producer Beau DeMayo.  In the meantime, you can catch up on the entire animated series on Disney+ now.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos

In this follow-up series to “WandaVision”, Kathryn Hahn will be reprising her fan-favourite role of Westview’s resident Darkhold reader, Agatha.  Currently, very little is known about this series, but we do know that it will also star Joe Locke (Heartstopper),  Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn (Raising Dion), and Maria Dizzia (The Staircase) will be starring in the new Disney+ series. Also returning for “Agatha: Coven of Chaos,” is Emma Caufield, who will be reprising her WandaVision role as Sarah Proctor.

The Magic Of Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Season 2

With the help of experts’ opinion, the filmmaker sheds light on the behind-the-scenes experience of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Epcot’s SeaBase aquarium.

“The Magic Of Disney’s Animal Kingdom” returns on New Year’s Day on the National Geographic channel and arrives on Disney+ on January 4th 2023 in the US.


A Small Light

The powerful, eight-episode limited series tells the remarkable story of 20-something secretary Miep Gies (Bel Powley), who didn’t hesitate when her boss Otto Frank (Liev Schreiber) asked her to hide him and his family from the Nazis during World War II. For the next two years, Miep, her husband Jan (Joe Cole) and several other everyday heroes watched over the eight souls hiding in the secret annex. It was Miep who found Anne’s diary and preserved it so that she and Otto could later share it with the world. The series title comes from something Gies said late in her life: “I don’t like being called a hero because no one should ever think you have to be special to help others. Even an ordinary secretary or a housewife or a teenager can turn on a small light in a dark room.”

Secrets Of The Elephants

In “Secrets Of The Elephants”, we travel the globe to meet different families of elephants, each with their own set of remarkable cultural behaviors which they’ve adapted to suit the environment in which they live. This series deploys the latest science and brand-new camera technology to reveal the elephant’s secret world, revealing not just how truly extraordinary they are in their own right but also how similar they are to humans. Desert elephants, forest elephants, Asian elephants and African savannah elephants each have an incredible story of intelligence, grace and survival to tell.

For “Secrets Of The Elephants”, Emmy Award-winners James Cameron and Maria Wilhelm for Earthship are executive producers. Lucinda Axelsson is the executive producer for Oxford Scientific Films. Her credits include “China: Nature’s Ancient Kingdom,” “Serengeti,” “Wild Brazil,” “Elephant Diaries,” “Elephants of Samburu,” “Meerkat Manor,” “Spy in the Wild.”

SCIENCE FAIR: THE SERIESfollows a group of inspiring teens who represent a vast spectrum of ISEF hopefuls. In addition to U.S. competitors, the series follows several fierce international contenders who have already beaten out the competition in their own countries to make it to ISEF. The result is a global character-driven coming-of-age story playing out across a science fair season, from the birth of an idea to a cutting-edge research project ready to compete in the “Olympics of science fairs.”

Pixar


Win Or Lose

This is Pixar’s first-ever long-form series and follows the Pickles, a co-ed middle school softball team, in the week leading up to their championship game. Each episode takes place that same week, highlighting the perspective of a different main character—players, their parents, the umpire—each reflected in a unique visual style. The series is directed by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates.  It will also star Will Forte as Coach Dan.

Dug Days: Carl’s Date

Pixar Animation Studios’ “Dug Days” is a series of shorts that follows the humorous misadventures of Dug, the lovable dog from Disney and Pixar’s “Up.” Each short features everyday events that occur in Dug’s backyard, all through the exciting (and slightly distorted) eyes of our favorite talking dog.

Extraordinary

Ten years ago, everyone over the age of 18 got their superpower. But Jen, a painfully self-aware 25-year-old woman, is still waiting to get hers. She’d take anything at this point. Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope, a lot of desperation and her flatmates, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower.

“Extraordinary” is coming to Disney+ around the world in January 2023.


Koala Man

Koala Man” follows middle-aged dad Kevin and his titular not-so-secret identity, whose only superpower is a burning passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime in the town of Dapto. Though it may seem like any other Australian suburb, forces of evil both cosmic and man-made lie in wait to pounce on unsuspecting Daptonians. On a quest to clean up his hometown, and often roping his frustrated family into his adventures, Koala Man stands at the ready. He’ll do whatever it takes to defeat villainous masterminds, supernatural horrors, or worse: jerks who don’t take their rubbish bins down on the proper days.

“Koala Man” is coming to Disney+ around the world on Monday, 9th January 2023.


The Full Monty

Almost twenty-five years on from the BAFTA-winning film, the limited series will follow the original band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors. The series will explore the brighter, sillier and more humane way forward where communal effort can still triumph over adversity.


Culprits

Culprits follows what happens after a heist, when the crew have gone their separate ways, but are being targeted by a killer one-by-one.


The Ballad Of Renegade Nell

England, 1705. Framed for murder and on the run with her sisters, Nell Jackson turns her hand to highway robbery to survive.  Aided by her superpowered sidekick, a plucky little sprite called Billy Blind, Nell realises that fate has put her on the wrong side of the law for a reason, a reason much bigger than she could have ever imagined: to defeat a magical plot against the Queen of England.


Finding Michael

Finding Michael, from Shine TV, part of Banijay UK, is an emotionally driven, feature-length original documentary. In 1999, Michael Matthews became the youngest Briton to summit Mount Everest. But three hours after he reached the top of the world, aged just 22, he disappeared into blinding snow and his body has never been found.  23 years later, his brother British entrepreneur and broadcaster Spencer Matthews sets out on a journey to Everest to find Michael.


Other


Doctor Who

Doctor Who will return to screens for three specials in November 2023 to coincide with the 60th anniversary with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor. This series will be available on the BBC in the UK and Ireland, and will be released exclusively on Disney+ around the world.


And this is likely not to be the only original content heading to Disney+ in 2023, as hopefully, as we will also see some additional content, such as a behind-the-scenes documentary, specials, shorts, and originals not previously announced.
