One of the Marvel Studios series currently in development is “Echo”, which stars Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, aka Echo, who was introduced in the Marvel Studios series, “Hawkeye”.

This new series will tell the origin story of Echo and revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behaviour in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.

The series was announced during last year’s Disney+ Day, and filming took place earlier this year. A small clip from the series was revealed during the D23 Expo in September and it was announced that the series would arrive on Disney+ in the summer of 2023.

However, there have been reports that there are some problems with the series and during a recent appearance on The Writers Panel podcast, “Echo’s” showrunner Marion Dayre revealed that the series will not be arriving as scheduled, possibly being delayed until at least December 2023, potentially later, as she said, when in reference to when the podcast was released:

probably a year from when this comes out.”

There wasn’t any reason revealed why the show has been delayed, but it’s likely now that the show will need some heavy reshoots in the future and the show suffered some behind-the-scenes issues.

“Echo” also stars Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, along with Chaske Spencer (“Wild Indian,” “The English”), Tantoo Cardinal (“Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Stumptown”), Devery Jacobs (FX’s “Reservation Dogs,” “American Gods”) and Cody Lightning (“Hey, Viktor!” “Four Sheets to the Wind”), with Graham Greene (“1883,” “Goliath”) and Zahn McClarnon (“Dark Winds,” FX’s “Reservation Dogs”).

With some negative feedback and reactions to Phase 4 of Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s expected that Marvel Studios is going to slow down its release schedule and take a little longer to polish some of the shows, specials and movies.

In 2023, we are also due to get multiple Marvel shows, including “Secret Invasion”, “Ironheart”, “Agatha: House Of Harkness” and the second season of “Loki”, plus some major films such as “Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol 3”, “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” and “The Marvels”.

With Kingpin and Daredevil set to appear in “Echo”, this delay might also impact on the release schedule of “Daredevil: Born Again”, which is due to be filmed next year and released in 2024.

Episodes of the series are directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai). Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre and Jason Gavin (Blackfeet). Co-executive producers are Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King (Seminole) and Jennifer Booth.
