Disney+ Price To Increase In The UK

As Disney works to make its streaming platform more profitable, it’s been confirmed that Disney+ subscribers in the UK will have to pay more to access films like “Toy Story 5” and “Moana” in the future.   This follows a recent price rise for Disney+ in many other countries, including the US.

Disney has generally increased the price of a Disney+ subscription every year since it debuted in 2020, and another annual price rise is set to kick in today.

All three of the tiers will be increasing in price, and here are the details of the new pricing for new subscribers:

  • Standard with Ads: £6.99 (currently £5.99)
  • Standard Monthly: £11.99 (currently £9.99)
  • Standard Annually: £119.90 (currently £99.90)
  • Premium Monthly: £15.99 (currently £14.99)
  • Premium Annually: £159.90 (currently £149.90)

The current price for adding an Extra Member (ie another household/family member) to a subscription will remain the same.

It’s also worth noting that existing monthly customers will be billed the new price starting from their next billing cycle on or after 18th November 2026.

Existing annual customers will be charged the new price from their next billing cycle on or after 2nd December 2026.

Disney+ has generally had an annual price rise each year, but because of how the annual subscription system works, we usually end up seeing posts for the next year or so, talking about the price hike, as their annual subscription renewal price kicks in, potentially over a year from now, often making it look like, on social media, that the price is going up multiple times a year, but this is just simply when existing annual subscribers get some sticker shock from the new prices.

As with all streaming service price rises, it’s a good time to take a look at what tier you’re on, as existing customers to have the option to switch plans, so if you’re on the Premium tier, it might be worth looking to see if you can downgrade to Standard if you don’t mind not having films in 4K or you’re only using one device to watch everything on.  Same for downgrading to the ad-supported tier if you don’t mind sitting through ads to save some money each month.

Disney has also confirmed that new and eligible returning customers can also save with the Disney+ six-month saver offer, with monthly prices of £5.99 for Disney+ Standard with Ads, £9.99 for Disney+ Standard and £11.99 for Disney+ Premium.

Another way of saving money with a Disney+ subscription is double-checking if you’re eligible to get it included in a number of packages with companies such as Sky, O2, Virgin Media, Vodafone, Lloyds Bank and Uber.

Unfortunately, Disney+, much like other streaming services, continues to increase prices every year, and it’s important that all subscribers take this opportunity to look at the tier they are on or if they can get it for free with another product/service they’re already paying for.   Other options to save money include rotating, in which you rotate through different subscription services, only keeping one or two platforms for a small amount of time, bingeing through all the major originals/shows/films that you want, but unsubscribing and then jumping onto another streaming service.

Either way, Disney+ subscribers in the UK will no doubt be unhappy with another price rise, especially as everything continues to increase in price amid the cost-of-living crisis.
