Disney+ Doesn’t Have Plans To Have Spider-Man Movies
If you have logged into Disney+ hoping to watch some Spider-Man movies like Homecoming or Far From Home, you might be wondering where those movies are, since there are lots of Marvel movies on the new streaming service.
However since Spider-Man movies are made by Sony, Disney doesn’t have control over where they are distributed and Sony already has deals with Netflix and Starz.
Ricky Strauss, Disney’s head of content and marketing for Disney+, told The Verge that
“We love our friends at Sony, but we don’t have any plans to have the live-action Spider-Man movies on Disney+. We will have all the Spider-Man animated shows that we did so they’ll be on there under the Marvel banner. But who knows what can happen in the future?”
Sony’s existing deals with Netflix and Starz are due to expire in the coming years ahead, so there is a possibility that those movies, along with the third Spider-Man Tom Holland movie and the animated movies, Into The Spider-Verse, in addition to older movies starring Toby McGuire or Andrew Garfield could be included at a later date.
At least until then, there are lots of animated Spider-Man series available on Disney+ and a few movies including Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame featuring Tom Holland. With Avengers: Infinity War coming to Disney+ next year.
