Dana Calvo Joins “Avalon” Series As A Showrunner
20th Television is currently developing a new drama series with A+E Studios called “Avalon”, which is based on Michael Connelly’s short story that takes place in the city of Avalon on Catalina Island, where L.A. Sheriff’s Department Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy heads up a small office. Catalina has a local population that serves more than 1 million tourists a year, and each day when the ferries arrive, hundreds of potential new stories enter the island. Detective Searcy is pulled into a career-defining mystery that will challenge everything she knows about herself and the island.
ABC has given the project a straight-to-series order and we should expect to see the series released on Hulu in the United States and as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.
Deadline is reporting that Dana Calvo has joined the series as the showrunner and an executive producer on the show. She has previously worked on “Good Girls Revolt”, “Made in Jersey” and “Narcos”.
The project is being created by David E. Kelley, who has created “Big Sky” and “Big Little Lies”, who has written the pilot episode and is an executive producer on the show. Michael Connelly is also an executive producer, along with Ross Fineman of Fineman Entertainment and Barry Jossen & Tana Jamieson for A+E Studios.
Are you looking forward to “Avalon”?
