In 2022, Disney+ unveiled the special presentation format. This can be an excellent way to introduce some lesser known characters from Disney properties without giving them a feature length film or a Disney+ series. While the special presentation started with Marvel, there are some great characters in Star Wars that could receive a special presentation. Let’s take a look at five Star Wars characters that deserve their own special presentations.

1. DR. APHRA

Dr. Aphra first appeared in the “Darth Vader” Marvel comic. She started as an apprentice to Vader until he tried to kill her. Dr. Aphra was also an archaeologist and bounty hunter with the street smarts to stay alive. She is basically a combination of Indiana Jones, Boba Fett and Han Solo, which is perfect because, in the comics, she has a complicated relationship with Han’s former wife, Sana Starros. Dr. Aphra has run into Luke, Leia and Han in the past, so it could be a way to bring Mark Hamill back into the fold.

2. SCAR SQUADRON

Task Force 99 is known as SCAR Squadron. It’s a group of Imperial Stormtroopers led by a lightsaber wielding sergeant. Each member has its own specialized  gear and combat expertise. SCAR Squadron is similar to the Bad Batch, a group of Clones that were an elite fighting force in their own right, however SCAR Squadron is loyal to the Empire instead of going on their own. While they could get their own animated series like The Bad Batch, they might be better suited for the special presentation format.

3. CAL KESTIS

A Jedi who survived the purge and then went underground until he was hunted by Inquisitors, Cal Kestis is the main protagonist from the video game “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.” In the game, he survives an encounter with Vader before destroying a holocron that would reveal the locations of hidden Jedi. For “Rebels” fans, his story is very similar to Kanan Jarrus, although they took some different actions that gives prevents them from being exactly the same. Plus, we’ve already seen Kanan in “Rebels” and a small scene in “The Bad Batch” and his wife and son are in “Ahsoka.” Maybe it’s time to give Cal Kestis his chance on television.

4. MARA JADE

While it’s great that Ahsoka Tano is getting all the love from the fanbase right now, the Expanded Universe has several strong female characters that haven’t been seen yet. Mara Jade was the Emperor’s Hand in Timothy Zahn’s “Thrawn” trilogy. She eventually turned to the light side and married Luke Skywalker. While she hasn’t appeared in anything since Disney acquired the Lucasfilm rights, a special presentation could be the perfect way to introduce her. Disney can even do their own storytelling and not have her marry Luke. She is a strong character that Disney should bring back.

5. QI’RA

Introduced in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” Qi’ra is the former girlfriend of Han Solo that he tried to help escape Correllia. He got away, but she was captured and wound up part of Crimson Dawn. Eventually, after he abandoned the Empire, Han ran into Qi’ra and thought they would have their happy ending until she left him to join Darth Maul. But what happened to her after the events of the film? The comics have given her a compelling story arc that should be brought to the screen. She is strong and fascinating. It would be great to see her in a special presentation.

Those are my picks. What “Star Wars” character would you like to see in a special presentation?
