With Disney’s new live action movie, Mary Poppins Returns, hitting cinemas this weekend, many fans might be waiting till it’s available for streaming at home.
While this movie might be a practically perfect movie to launch Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+ with, Mary Poppins Returns will be heading to Netflix first.
This is the last Disney movie to be part of the current Netflix deal, so all new movies from 2019 won’t be going to Netflix and instead will be going to Disney+.
Usually new Disney movies come to Netflix around 9 months after its been released in cinemas, so Mary Poppins Returns should be on Netflix next summer. This contract applies to all Disney movies released between 2016 and 2019. And since new movies usually stay on Netflix for 18 months before being removed. So this could mean Mary Poppins Returns might not arrive on Disney+ until early 2021. Unless Disney work out a deal with Netflix to pull it off early.
While Mary Poppins Returns looks like it will take a while to come to Disney+, this will be the longest wait for new Disney movies. It also means Disney+ will continue to get a stream of new releases with delayed additions like this.
