What’s To Watch On Disney+ | Dog Lovers
If you love dogs, there are many options currently available on Disney+ to satisfy any and all of your doggie cravings, from the classics to more modern offerings.
If you are in the mood for classic Disney dog movies, there are a few versions of 101 Dalmatians to view. There is the animated original from 1961, along with the 1996 live-action film starring Glenn Close. Additionally, there are also two different sequels – two for live-action with 102 Dalmatians, also with Close, released in 2000 and with Cruella, featuring Emma Stone, that came out in 2021. Lady and the Tramp also have both an original cartoon film along with a more live-like version that came out in the last few years.
If you are looking for a real tear-jerker, Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey is a top choice. After their family moves, two dogs and a cat journey a long way to make their way back home, facing natural elements and the prospect of giving up. It is a heartwarming movie that deserves a watch. If you like the first one, there is also a sequel, Homeward Bound: Lost in San Francisco, available. The second film follows the same characters as they embark on a completely different adventure to get back home.
More comical dog movies to stream would be the Doctor Dolittle movies with Eddie Murphy. There are two movies that feature the funny animal doctor that can actually speak to the animals. The original 1998 movie starring Murphy and Doctor Dolittle 3 is available on Disney+. Both make for a good family-night movie pick.
There are also several offerings from National Geographic if you are in the mood for something more factual and reality-based. Titles include Dog: Impossible, World’s Greatest Dog, and How Dogs Got Their Shapes. Cesar Millan also has a special called Cesar Millan: Better Human Better Dog.
Pixar’s Dug Days picks up after the events of the movie Up with Carl and his dog, Dug, and their day-to-day adventures. It is a collection of shorts that are about ten minutes each. Along these lines, Disney Junior has a show called Puppy Dog Pals to help you get a cute puppy fix, especially for younger audiences.
Other options include Snow Dogs with Cuba Gooding Jr., Beverly Hills Chihuahua with vocals from Drew Barrymore, Bolt with voiceovers by Miley Cyrus and John Travolta, and Eight Below with Paul Walker.
