Disney is known for owning brands and one of the most popular brands under the Disney umbrella is the Muppets. Created by Jim Henson, the Muppets have provided multiple movies, series and shorts over the years. Not all of them are on Disney+, but I took the time to rank my Top 15 Muppet movies and series currently on Disney+.

15. MUPPET BABIES SHOW AND TELL

These shorts that appear on the Disney family of networks offer a nice little transition between shows. They are a nice way to pass the time with your little one, especially if they are a Muppets fan.

14. MUPPET BABIES: PLAY DATE

The Muppet Babies return to the playroom but are reimagined in live action. This is another series of shorts that great for the younger Muppets fans.

13. MUPPETS MOMENTS

Another series of shorts that can be found on the Disney family of networks, these take a look at how the actual Muppets interact with people as they share what Disney describes as “unforgettable moments.”

12. MUPPETS NOW

As a Muppet series get ready for streaming, Scooter rushes to deliver the episodes — navigating obstacles, distractions, and complications that the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him. It was a fun series during the content drought of 2020, but doesn’t hold up as well as the others.

11. A MUPPETS CHRISTMAS: LETTERS TO SANTA

When Gonzo accidentally diverts three letters to Santa, he talks Kermit and his friends into delivering them to the North Pole personally. It’s a cute Christmas special, but many of the cameos make it feel dated rather than classic like other Muppets properties.

1o. THE MUPPETS (TV SERIES)

Disney’s attempt to bring the Muppets to primetime backfired with this series that only lasted one season. They tried to make “The Muppets” more grown up and it led to backlash from fans who wanted the Muppets to remain fun for the whole family. The show itself wasn’t bad, some of the appeal was lost.

9. MUPPETS MOST WANTED

The most recent Muppet movie to hit theaters, something is missing here. Muppet movies usually either have great songs or great one liners. This movie failed to deliver either. It took the evil look-a-like trope and didn’t do any more than any other movies have done.

8. MUPPET BABIES

Disney’s brought the Muppets back to children’s TV with an updated version of “Muppet Babies.” My sons have both watched it and it’s an adorable update with 3D animation. It’s absolutely fun for kids to enjoy.

7. MUPPETS HAUNTED MANSION

On Halloween night, Gonzo is challenged to spend one night in The Haunted Mansion. This is easily the best “The Haunted Mansion” movie currently available. It’s also the best Muppets property we’ve seen since 2011.

6. THE MUPPETS (MOVIE)

After a long drought, Jason Segel and Disney brought the Muppets back to the silver screen with “The Muppets.” It incorporated new songs with some pop classics to make a fun musical that will have the viewer singing along with the Muppets. Plus, it introduced us to a new Muppet named Walter.

5. MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND

The top five are five of my favorite properties altogether, not just Muppets properties. I alternate the order all the time, this is just where they fall for me as I’m writing this one. The Muppets take on another literary classic, this time tackling Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island.” This film features wonderful songs that are easy to remember and sing along with and classic one liners that will keep you laughing. Plus, the immensely talented Tim Curry steps in to play the villain, Long John Silver, and turns in a magnificent performance.

4. THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL

The Muppets take on Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic with their version of “A Christmas Carol.” Sir Michael Caine steps in as Ebenezer Scrooge and we get some great bits from Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Sam the Eagle, Statler, Waldorf and others in the roles of classic characters. Plus, Gonzo and Rizzo step up to serve as the Narrators.

3. The Muppet Movie

This is the very first Muppet movie and is the most important. Had this film failed, there wouldn’t be a Muppet series of movies. There might not be additional Muppet series beyond “The Muppet Show.” But this film delivered with some one liners that have become classic and introduce the world to the wonderful “Rainbow Connection.”

2. THE MUPPET SHOW

It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets on “The Muppet Show” tonight. Kermit the Frog and his fellow Muppets put on a vaudeville show at their theatre, bringing in a famous celebrity to help out for each episode. Everything about this series is excellent. I don’t know what else to say.

1. THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER

I think this is my all time favorite Muppet movie, and I’ve loved many of them. I love the sights and sounds of London, the one liners, the songs and the hunt for the Baseball Diamond. Charles Grodin does a masterful job as the villain who falls in love with Miss Piggy. It’s a classic that would be fun for the whole family.

That’s my ranking. What do you think? How am I right? How am I wrong? What do you think is the best Muppet movie or series available on Disney+? And would you like to see some others added?
