Disney+ is currently available in the Netherlands ahead of its US/Canada release on November 12th.  To help you get into the Halloween spirit, I’ve put together a list of 10 movies with a “Halloween” theme, featuring some great Disney classics, along with some Disney Channel Original Movies thrown in.

Here are my Top 10 Halloween Movies available on Disney+ (in the Netherlands):

10) Mom’s Got A Date With A Vampire

We kick the list off with a fun Disney Channel movie, starring Caroline Rhea, who I reconigsed from Sabrina the Teenage Witch (the classic version, not the new Netflix version).   The Hansen kids are in a jam. Adam and his best friend Duffy have gotten their hands on some tickets for the Headless Horseman concert, and his sister Chelsea has a date with her dreamy boyfriend Peter. The only problem is they’re both grounded. Chelsea and Adam will do whatever it takes to get their mom Lynette out of the house, even if it includes a chance meeting with a very mysterious man. Everything seems to go according to plan until their little brother Taylor realizes that this stranger might be a vampire.

9) Scream Team

This Disney Channel original is another fun family movie that showcases the awesome Eric Idel.  The film tells the story of Eccentric Frank Carlyle, who runs a horror shop in small-town Steeple Falls, which takes pride in and profit from its Halloween traditions. Frank’s widower grandson Richard grudgingly returns there from Boston with his own kids, bright Ian and bratty Claire, to settle the inheritance. Ian discovers great-grandpa’s house is really haunted, and not just, as legend holds, by historic owner Zachariah Kull, who was burned on the stake.

8) Girl Vs Monster

Long before Olivia Holt became “Dagger” in Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, she stars in this Disney Channel Original movie as Skylar, who finds out that her parents are monster hunters, after she accidentally releases some monsters from a secret containment chamber; so she and her techno friends must recapture all the monsters and also save her mom and dad from these monsters who are out for revenge.

7) Frankenweenie

Anything from Tim Burton is perfect to watch at this time of the year, since most of his movies are dark and twisted.  This animated movie continues his unique style and is a remake of a short he made years ago (which is also available on Disney+). When a car hits young Victor’s pet dog Sparky, Victor decides to bring him back to life the only way he knows how. But when the bolt-necked “monster” wreaks havoc and terror in the hearts of Victor’s neighbors, he has to convince them that Sparky’s still the good, loyal friend he was.

6) Halloween Town

This Disney Channel Original went on to spawn a number of sequels (which are also all on Disney+).  The movie tells the story of Marlie, who on her 13th birthday, learns she’s a witch, discovers a secret portal, and is transported to Halloweentown — a magical place where ghosts and ghouls, witches and werewolves live apart from the human world. But she soon finds herself battling wicked warlocks, evil curses, and endless surprises.

5) The Haunted Mansion

The classic Disney Theme Park attraction has been turned into a fun family adventure with Eddie Murphy, who plays the workaholic Jim Evers.  When he and his wife/business partner, Sara get a call one night from mansion owner, Edward Gracey wants to sell his house. Once the Evers family arrive at the mansion a butler takes them to dine with Gracey. Gracey takes one look at Sara and he thinks she’s his lost lover.  Fans of the ride will want to keep their eyes open for a number of great Easter Eggs.

4) Zombies

One of the more recent Disney Channel Original Movies, sees students from Zombietown  transferred to a high school in a suburban town preoccupied with uniformity, traditions and pep rallies. Its an interesting love story and is full of catchy songs.

3) Monsters Inc

One of my favorite Pixar franchises is Monsters Inc and any I’ll find any excuse to slide this movie into a top list.  James Sullivan and Mike Wazowski are monsters, they earn their living scaring children and are the best in the business… even though they’re more afraid of the children than they are of them. When a child accidentally enters their world, James and Mike suddenly find that kids are not to be afraid of and they uncover a conspiracy that could threaten all children across the world.  And with a new Disney+ original series coming next year, this is a good time to catch up with Mike & Sulley.

2) Hocus Pocus

After 300 years of slumber, three sister witches are accidentally resurrected in Salem on Halloween night, and it is up to three kids and their newfound feline friend to put an end to the witches’ reign of terror once and for all.

 1) The Nightmare Before Christmas

Tired of scaring humans every October 31 with the same old bag of tricks, Jack Skellington, the spindly king of Halloween Town, kidnaps Santa Claus and plans to deliver shrunken heads and other ghoulish gifts to children on Christmas morning. But as Christmas approaches, Jack’s rag-doll girlfriend, Sally, tries to foil his misguided plans.
