Mickey and Minnie are enjoying time on a private island when a storm threatens their fun causing them to have to build a shelter in the latest episode of “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” entitled “The Enchanting Hut.” As Mickey and Minnie attempt to build the hut, the birds, trees, and rocks on the island keep getting in their way. But, when the storm cloud arrives and forces Mickey and Minnie out to sea, those same birds, trees, and rocks come to their rescue.

This is a fun episode in this series of shorts that gives viewers some fun time with Mickey and Minnie and gives those that have been to the parks a nice reminder of one of the most popular attractions. The music in this short is very reminiscent of the work of the Sherman Brothers and especially the Enchanted Tiki Hut at the Disney parks. It’s well animated, tells a fun story, and throws back to other parts of Disney that many love. It’s a well-done short in that respect.

While it’s far from original, the story of misunderstanding shines loud and clear. The birds, trees, and rocks want to help Mickey and Minnie because they like them and want to protect them. They are native to the island and know what will serve Mickey and Minnie best in their quest to build a suitable shelter. But, since the rocks, birds, and trees can’t talk, Mickey and Minnie think they are trying to stop them rather than help them. It’s a big misunderstanding that gets sorted after the pair is thrown out to sea. They find a way back and the rocks, trees, and birds continue to protect them. It’s a good story. It’s a well-told story. The only knock on it is we’ve seen it before.

I also love how Mickey and Minnie stay true to character no matter what. When the cloud runs out of strength, Mickey and Minnie give it a place to rest which leads to the cloud becoming their friend. Despite the fact they have every reason to not be friendly to the cloud, they still are because that’s just how Mickey and Minnie are. In this world, there’s not enough good, so it’s awesome to see two characters who are just inherently good.

I love this series and I really like this episode. It’s not my favorite so far, but it was a lot of good and a lot of fun. I hope this series of shorts lasts a long time and we get more adventures from Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang.
