Mickey, Donald and Goofy have to tell Huey, Dewey, Louie, Morty and Ferdie a scary story after wrapping up trick-or-treating in “The Scariest Story Ever: A Mickey Mouse Halloween Spooktacular.” The five boys are not happy with their attempts to tell a scary story until Mickey finally finds his inner scarer and sends all the boys and Goofy and Donald hiding under the covers.

This special is cute for kids and good for families, but isn’t overly great for adults not watching with kids. That being said, it’s exactly what a Mickey Mouse special should be. We get Mickey’s and Donald’s nephews, Goofy and Donald join them, Mickey’s first attempts at a “scary” story being too happy, the boys not liking anything the three try to do and finally Mickey channeling his inner scarer at the right time.

My only real complaint is there wasn’t enough Minnie Mouse. She and Daisy make a cameo at the end, but we could see more of her. I would’ve expected her to be trick-or-treating with Mickey and the boys. I also would’ve expected Daisy to be spending time with Donald and his nephews. It’s great that we see them at the end, but there were a few openings for them to make an appearance, either in the storytelling or within the stories themselves.

I had fun with this special. It’s not scary, but it’s kind of spooky. This special is great for kids. It’s perfect for families. I enjoyed it. I hope others do too.
