Warner Brothers have announced that the Searchlight Pictures film, “The Menu”, is coming to HBO Max in the United States on Tuesday, 3rd January 2023, which is the same day the film is being released on digital platforms.   The film will be released the day after on Disney+ in Canada on Wednesday, 4th January 2023, and it’ll also be coming to Disney+ in other countries, including the UK and Australia, in the future too, though no exact release date has been announced yet.

The film tells the story of Margot and Tyler, a young couple, who travel to an elite, remote, coastal island in order to dine at an exclusive restaurant where a mysterious chef has prepared a lavish, expensive menu. But it soon becomes clear that the pretentious, pampered dinner guests are about to be served some shocking surprises.

Consumerism takes on a hilariously scary meaning in this dark comedy that features Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light and John Leguizamo in an all-star ensemble cast.

“The Menu” is directed by Mark Mylod, with a screenplay by Seth Reiss & Will Tracy.

This will be one of the last Disney-owned films to be released on HBO Max, instead of Hulu or Disney+ in the United States, as the ten-year deal made between HBO and 20th Century Fox ends at the end of 2022.   This means any new film released by 20th Century Studios or Searchlight Pictures from 2023 onwards, can then be released on Hulu or Disney+ after its theatrical run.  Disney and Warner Brothers did make an adjustment to the deal last year, giving Disney limited shared access to a few of the major releases such as “Free Guy”, “Ron’s Gone Wrong”, “West Side Story” and probably, “Avatar: The Way Of Water”, in exchange for HBO to get early access to films like “The Menu” within 45 days of a theatrical release, for it’s pay one window.

Are you looking forward to watching “The Menu” when it arrives in the New Year?
