Disney has announced that the animated “LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special” and the “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy” series, will become available on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel for a limited time.

The animated special was released on Disney+ in 2020 and is available on YouTube now for a limited time.

“The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special” reunites Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and the droids for a joyous feast on Life Day. Rey sets off on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will she make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of the holiday spirit?

The “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy” was released on Disney+ last year and will be released on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel on December 5th 2024.

“LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy,” tells the story of what happens when the entire Star Wars Galaxy gets completely mixed up when an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo) , unearths a powerful artefact from a hidden Jedi temple. He finds himself thrust into adventure in a new, wondrously wild and twisted version of the galaxy where good guys are bad, bad guys are good, and the fate of all depends on Sig becoming the hero who can put all the pieces back together.

Both of these LEGO specials are also available to stream on Disney+.

Roger’s Take: YouTube is the main way that kids watch television, and Disney knows it has to take its content to where the kids are. Disney will also get a small boost in additional revenue from ads, plus LEGO will also likely want more kids to see the shows so that they might sell more of the sets based on them for Christmas! While it might seem weird that Disney+ Originals are being released on other platforms, these have been out for a while, and this boost in viewership is a win-win for Disney; there really isn’t a downside to doing it.
