“StuGo” Disney+ Release Delayed
This year, Disney released a brand new animated series called “StuGo” on Disney Channel. This new show is about six middle schoolers who get tricked into attending a fake academic summer camp by a mad scientist. They were looking forward to three months of learning, but will have to settle for the adventure of a lifetime on a tropical island filled with mind-reading manatees, giant fighting fungi and fashion-forward mutants.
Disney has recently updated its official coming soon section of its official site, confirming that they’ve pushed back the release of its new animated series, “StuGo” from Spring until Summer 2025. This could mean we won’t see it released on Disney+ until June, July or even possibly not until August.
It’s still not clear exactly when “StuGo” will be released on Disney+. The show debuted on the linear channel back in January and new episodes are released each week on the Disney Channel. However, Disney has decided to hold back the streaming release until after the entire show has premiered. This will likely also impact the global rollout of this show on Disney+, where it’s available exclusively.
Roger’s Take: Personally, I don’t understand why the Disney Channel side of new releases is still all over the place. The majority of kids watch shows on streaming platforms and not on linear television. It feels very much a case of them trying to keep ratings up on the Disney Channel, but for the future success of the show and shows like this, I really think Disney needs to just embrace Disney+ fully and just make the Disney Channel a secondary place to air new content or just dual release everything at the same time. It just all feels so old-fashioned and is hurting the discovery of this show, since most kids don’t have access to cable, and it hasn’t yet had a global streaming release.
