Later this year, Lucasfilm is set to release a brand new original series on Disney+ called “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”, which follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

This new Disney series stars Jude Law, along with Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Dane DiLiegro, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe and Kerry Condon.

Originally, this series was due to be released on Disney+ in 2023; however, Disney slowed down its releases for multiple reasons, including reducing franchise fatigue, delays due to the Hollywood strikes, and saving money.

Disney has confirmed that the show will be coming out later this year, but there is still no official release window, though recently, Dane DiLiegro attended the premiere of a new horror film, “Imaginary” and was asked by The Direct about when the series is due to be released, to which he replied:

“I’m hoping by the fall. If I were to guess… That’s completely surmising. There’s no information behind that. I know that Lucasfilm likes to release things around November-ish. So I’m hoping by then. I’ve been meaning to reach out to our director, David Lowery. He’s a friend of mine. But yeah, I don’t know. We’ll see. Maybe November. I know Lucasfilm is due for something pretty cool. And I think ‘Skeleton Crew’ might be that thing.”

Dane was also asked what he will be doing in this upcoming Disney+ series, to which he just said:

“It’s fun. It’s not anything long or substantial… But it’s just a fun thing. And you know, it’s a really cool sequence.”

Jon Watts and Christopher Ford are the showrunners and executive producers, along with Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson on “Skeleton Crew”. Chris Buongiomo, Gilchrist and Carrie Beck also serves as co-executive producers. on the project.  John Bartnicki and Susan McNamara are producers. Directors include Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung.

Also set to be released this year is the new live-action series, “The Acolyte”, which has previously been rumoured to be arriving on Disney+ in the summer, so a fall release for “Skeleton Crew” would make sense, with how Disney likes to space out its projects.

Filming recently wrapped on the second season of “Star Wars: Andor”, which was originally scheduled to arrive on Disney+ in 2024, but will now move into 2025.
