Earlier this year, Disney announced that Lucasfilm was going to be bringing The Mandalorian and Grogu to the big screen on a new epic adventure.

Jon Favreau, the creator of “The Mandalorian,” will direct and produce the upcoming movie. Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni will also executive produce it.

And it’s been revealed by the InSneider that Sigourney Weaver is in talks to star in the upcoming film, though it is unknown what character she would play.  It’s also important to note that nothing has officially been announced regarding the casting, so it isn’t yet finalised.

This won’t be the first time Sigourney Weaver has starred in a big epic sci-fi franchise, as she has previously starred in multiple “Alien” movies, in addition to both “Avatar” films.

The new theatrical release will continue the story of the Mandalorian and Grogu, though no other details on the project have been revealed.  Production on the movie is expected to begin in June and is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 22nd, 2026, so hopefully, will be available on Disney+ by the end of 2026.

While we wait for the upcoming release of “The Mandalorian & Grogu”, you can catch the three previous seasons of the original series on Disney+.
