Seth MacFarlane Shares Up On “The Orville” Renewal
Ever since the third season of “The Orville” arrived on Hulu and Disney+ last summer, there hamuchlots of speculation about a potential fourth season of the show.
“The Orville”, which was created and stars Seth MacFarlane. This epic space adventure series is set 400 years in the future and finds the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continuing their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.
The cast in Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, J Lee, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, Jessica Szohr and Anne Winters.
The show’s creator and lead star, Seth MacFarlane took to social media to reply to fans questions about a potential new season:
The industry is in the midst of a time of upheaval and transition. I wish I could provide a definitive answer to your question. At the moment, all I can say is that I remain… cautiously optimistic.
Since the last season of “The Orville” was released, the streaming industry has gone through lots of changes, especially within Disney, which is trying to save over $5 billion in costs, so making an expensive special effects heavy comedy series, might be a much harder to get made right now.
Disney hasn’t officially confirmed if the show will be returning for a fourth season. Last year, Seth MacFarlane spoke with TV Line and said that the Disney+ release might have helped push Disney into making a fourth season if enough people watched it.
“My hope is that when the show drops on Disney+, the people who haven’t yet discovered [The Orville] will suddenly give it a chance. That’s a potential game changer for us. I think that creatively and audience-wise, when people sit down and give the show a chance, it upends their expectations. The biggest burden with the show is preconceptions. People think it’s one thing — there are people out there who think it’s a sitcom — and when they sit down to watch it they realize its something completely different. Once you get people’s eyeballs on it, the show does the work, its speaks for itself, and people tend to be hooked.”
All three seasons of “The Orville” are available on Disney+ now.
