Griffin and Harper have been caught sneaking around the Tremont and are in trouble with the adult versions of Bennett and Jess in “Long Time Gone,” the latest episode of “Secrets of Sulphur Springs.” Once the power is restored, the pair sneak back through the portal to the morning after Savannah’s disappearance as the entire camp is looking for her. Meanwhile, in the present, Jess, Bennett and Sarah have discovered Griffin and Harper are missing and have called in the police to search the grounds of the Tremont. With Bennett vowing to Jess the present day search wasn’t going to end the same way the search for Savannah did, back in the 90s, Bennett tells his father her disappearance is “his fault.”

This series is doing a great job of upping the suspense and the intrigue week after week. The last time we saw Savannah, she was going down into the hotel basement. Now, she’s disappeared and we don’t know why or how. We know Jess didn’t like her and dared her to go down there. We know Bennett knew she was going down there, but the next time we saw him, he was in his bunk asleep and, as far as we know, hadn’t seen her since she went down in the basement the night before. Why does Bennett say it’s “his fault” then? What caused him to believe that? It’s a great question to which I can’t wait to find out the answer.

Meanwhile, adult Bennett’s assertion that the search for Griffin and Harper won’t end the same way the search for Savannah did also raises more questions. What happened in that search that is causing extra trepidation for Bennett and Jess? Why did that statement cause Jess to question Bennett’s motives? Plus, will they ever learn about the time portal that has been transporting Griffin and Harper from the present day to the time of Savannah’s disappearance? That’s a lot to unpack for a weekly show on the Disney Channel.

I’m becoming more and more intrigued with the series with each episode. I could see this being televised on a network with an older target demographic. This show has already moved beyond the tropes of a Disney Channel show and while it’s far from being adult-oriented, it’s definitely something this adult is looking forward to seeing more of.
