“The Simpsons” meets “Star Wars” in the latest Disney+ Original short made for “Star Wars” Day. In “Rogue Not Quite One,” Homer leave Maggie in Grogu’s baby carrier while he goes into the cantina to get a drink. Maggie accidentally takes the carrier to space where she is hunted by TIE fighters and a baby Darth Maul. Eventually, she soothes the baby Maul by giving him her pacifier. Then, she gets a new one when BB-8 appears in the carrier. It’s quite the ride for a one minute short.

This short is just silly fun, and it’s a perfect short for Star Wars day content. It mixes two of the most popular franchises Disney owns, all while “The Simpsons” remains irreverent with how it mocks Disney and “Star Wars,” as well as itself. There is no dialogue so it’s an excellent way to keep costs down while mixing the two franchises. And it does an excellent job of representing different eras of “Star Wars”, from “The Mandalorian” to “The Phantom Menace” to the sequel trilogy.

My only complaint is not with the short, itself, but with the content Disney+ released for “Star Wars” day. Subscribers got this short, the second season of “Star Wars: Visions” and the new kid-oriented show, “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.” Disney+ should’ve dropped more content than that. Maybe a new vehicle walkthrough or get the rights to an older documentary. They don’t have to unveil a massive series like “Skeleton Crew” or “Ahsoka,” but fans deserve more than just the three things we got.

While it wasn’t the major content “Star Wars” fans deserve, this was still a nice drop for “Star Wars” Day. It’s fun for fans of “Star Wars” and “The Simpsons.” I hope we get more shorts like these in the future. I just hope we get more content on future “Star Wars” days.
