Recently it was announced that Disney is working on a brand new series based on the Percy Jackson books for Disney+ and since then, fans have been desperate for more news on the series.

This weekend, Percy Jackson creator, Rick Riordan, took to social media to give an update on the Disney+ series.

We’re in the very earliest stages of #PercyJacksonDisneyPlus. I’m still working on the pilot script outline atm. WAY too soon for info on casting or anything else. BUT I am in the room where it happens, to quote the great @Lin_Manuel, & will do my utmost to make you guys proud.

With the script still in the early stages, the series will be a long way off yet but it looks like we will be kept up to date with the current progress from the characters creator.

20th Century Studios has previously made two movies based on the popular book series, both of which are available on Disney+ in most countries.  The book series had been originally planned to be part of a large franchise, with mutiple movies, however the failure of “Sea Of Monsters” at the box office caused the franchise to be put on hold.   This new Disney+ series will be much more closer to the original books as the creator, Rick Riordan is writing the scripts for the show.
