Disney+ Original “Percy Jackson And The Olympians” Wins At The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards
This past weekend, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards took place to celebrate the best movies and shows of the year, which have been voted for by fans, giving a good indication of what’s popular right now.
Disney picked up some awards at the event, including “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” winning Best Kids TV show, with the show’s star, Walker Scobell, picking up their favourite male Kids TV star.
The series is based on Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by award-winning author Rick Riordan and tells the story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who is coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt; with his friend’s help, Percy must restore order to Olympus.
Olivia Rodrigo also won the award for favourite female Kids TV star for her role as Nini, in the Disney+ Original series, “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”.
The event was hosted by SpongeBob SquarePants (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Patrick Star (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke).
Highlights included Kelly Rowland presenting Serena Williams with the Legend Gold Blimp award for her career spanning sports, fashion, beauty and lifestyle.
The show opened with an energetic dance number, featuring Paul Russell performing his hit “Lil Boo Thang,” alongside a montage of all the shows, movies, music and popular internet sensations throughout the year. The Kid LAROI also performed a medley from his chart-topping “Nights Like This,” his new single “Girls” and hit “Stay,” culminating in an epic sliming.
Other notable appearances included celebrities Iain Armitage, MrBeast, Benny Blanco, Kylie Cantrall, Billie Eilish, Henry Golding, Mckenna Grace, DeAndre Hopkins, Montana Jordan, Ryan Kaji, Anna Kendrick, Post Malone, Shameik Moore, Rita Ora, Bella Poarch, Raegan Revord, Lexi Rivera, Margot Robbie, Olivia Rodrigo, Adam Sandler, Walker Scobell, Hannah Stocking, Heidi Klum, Jordan & Salish Matter and more.
