Earlier today, Disney released the entire new Marvel Studios series, “Echo”, on Disney+ worldwide.  The series spotlights Maya Lopez as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk’s criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy.

The series sees Vincent D’Onofrio return as the Kingpin, who he has previously played in the Disney+ series, “Hawkeye”, which introduced Maya to audiences, and this series also connects to the former Netflix Original “Daredevil” shows.

It wouldn’t be a Marvel Studios film or show without a mid-credit scene to get fans ready for the next project, and today’s new release, “Echo”, is no different.

During the “Echo” credits, a scene shows Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin, on his private jet, talking about calling the meeting to sort out his criminal business after the show’s events.  He is shown watching the news on the television, where the two news presenters are talking about the upcoming New York City mayoral race, saying:

“Turns out most people want somebody who is a fighter.”

“Which works against the career politicians. There are legitimate problems in the city right now and the voters want somebody who understands the pain they’re going through, the frustration they’re going through.”

“Exactly right. A bare knuckle brawler would do well in this race. An outsider. Somebody who is not afraid to take on the establishment.”

“But wouldn’t that candidate have emerged by now? That’s the question that remains for so many people. Is that candidate even out there?”

These words of the voters wanting “bare-knuckle brawler” and “outsider” who isn’t afraid to take on the establishment captures Fisk’s attention as he leans in to listen to the conversation, which has piqued his interest.

Marvel Studios is currently in the middle of production on a new Disney+ series, “Daredevil: Born Again”, which will see Charlie Cox return as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil.

It’s been rumoured that the series would be based on the “Born Again” comic book series, though it was also suggested that this could be a reference to the character becoming born again within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the comic book series, “Devil’s Reign”, Wilson Fisk becomes the mayor of New York City, where he used his government position to outlaw vigilantism in the city.

The “Echo” mid-credit scene does hint that this could be the direction that Marvel Studios could be going in, though it is always worth pointing out that while Marvel does use their comic books as inspiration for shows and films, they are rarely direct adaptations and often use it as a guide.

While we wait for the next adventure with Kingpin, you can catch his previous antics in “Daredevil”, “Hawkeye” and “Echo” on Disney+ now.
