Disney has announced that the twenty-second season of the National Geographic series, “Life Below Zero”, will be coming to Disney+ and Hulu in the United States on Wednesday, 20th March 2024.

When bears, wolves and foxes are your only neighbours, life can be pretty lonely. Add minus-60-degree days and a constant battle for the most basic necessities, and you have the daily challenges of people who live in remote corners of Alaska. This series takes viewers deep into an Alaskan winter to meet tough, resilient residents as they try to stay one step ahead of storms and man-eating beasts to survive the season.

The closest neighbour to Sue Aikens is more than 300 miles away. Eric Salitan subsists solely on what he hunts and forages. Chip and Agnes Hailstone catch fish for currency in bartering for supplies, and Andy and Kate Bassich use their pack of sled dogs for transportation. Also highlighted is a time of year not always part of what viewers see in Alaska: spring! Ice is breaking, animals are waking, and residents face new tests before deep cold returns.

The most recent season was released on the National Geographic linear channel earlier this year and consists of nine episodes:

  • Destroyer of Worlds – Some tasks require remote Alaskans to venture off trail.
  • Bulletproof – Alaskans contend with the throes of the warm season.
  • Transitions – Alaskans harness the power of the sun as they toil through summer.
  • The Way of the Bear – Alaskans must capitalize on the resources of the Arctic Summer.
  • Summer Camp – The warm season provides for Alaskans.
  • Run Aground – In summer’s home stretch, family ties run deep; Cole hunts for protein in the rain; Jessie gathers the last of the warm weather bounty; the Hailstones track shy prey; Ricko’s legacy project.
  • Beyond the Tundra – With summer nearing its end, Alaskans kick into high gear.
  • Respect the Wild – Alaskans power through the dog days of summer.
  • One Last Chance – As the sun fades across the land, Alaskans brace for Dark Winter’s return.

The previous seasons of “Life Below Zero” are also available to stream now on Disney+ and Hulu.
