Back in 2022, Disney announced it was creating a brand new eight-part series in Australia called “What’s Your Toy Story?”, which is going to be hosted by Rove McManus, who is a comedian and presenter, that has previously made a cameo in “Finding Nemo” and “Bluey”.

The new original competition format series will see teams of kids and grownups show off their skills at creativity, innovation and storytelling as they bring their own toy stories to life. It will boast an epic, Pixar-inspired set and embrace everything the world loves about this iconic franchise.

“What’s Your Toy Story?” is being developed with Guesswork Television and Roving Enterprises.  Since the initial announcement, we’ve not heard anything about this show, but recently, TV Tonight confirmed with its sources that the project still remains in development, but hasn’t been able to get any confirmation directly from Disney that the show is still happening.

Disney has been drastically cutting back on how many international originals it’s making for Disney+, as it looks to cut costs and become more profitable.  However, due to local quotas and rules, Disney is still required to make some original programming, so hopefully this series will eventually hit our screens.

This show was announced along with many other Australian originals, including “The Clearing”, “The Artful Dodger”, “Last Days of the Space Age”; “Matildas: The World at Our Feet”, “Shipwreck Hunters Australia”, “Chasing Waves”, “Fearless: The Inside Story of the AFLW”; and “Donna Hay Christmas”.  All of these originals have been released, bar “Last Days of the Space Age”, which is coming out on Disney+ in October.

Since all by one of those other originals have now been released, hopefully, it won’t be too long until “What’s Your Toy Story? is released, but with “Toy Story 5” set to debut in cinemas in June 2026, maybe it was delayed.

Roger’s Take:  One of the biggest problems that Disney has had in the past few years is announcing way too many projects to the public too early and having Rove McManus being present at the announcement event, and over two years later, still not delivered, what would have likely been one of the easier shows to make, just continues to highlight Disney’s eagerness to make headlines.  But way too often, these projects get cancelled and delayed, or simply forgotten.

Do you think we are going to see “What’s Your Toy Story?” released?  Let me know on social media!
