					Hulu Orders “Southern Bastards” Pilot
Disney’s Hulu has ordered a pilot for a new drama called “Southern Bastards”, which is based on Jason Aaron and Jason Latour’s graphic novel series of the same name, that follows a tenacious military vet into Craw County, Alabama, in search of her estranged father. What she finds is a murderous hornet’s nest of organised crime run by the winningest high school football coach in the South.
The pilot is being written and executive-produced by Bill Dubuque, who previously worked on “Ozark” and “The Accountant”, along with Nia DaCosta, who worked with Disney on “The Marvels”. Nia will also direct the pilot.
The graphic novel was released by Image Comics in 2014, and it won a number of awards, including the Harvey Award for Best New Series and the Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series.
Matt Olmstead, who previously worked on “Chicago P.D.“, will be serving as showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers include Aaron and Latour, Layne Eskridge for POV Entertainment, and Gabrielle Nadig.
The project is coming from Onyx Collective, POV Entertainment, and Proximity Media, in Association with Fifth Season, where Dubuque has an overall deal.
No other details on the pilot have been revealed, such as who will star in it, but should the pilot get the go-ahead, we should expect to see it released on Hulu and Disney+.
