Hilary Duff Is Still Optimistic About A ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Revival
The second season of “How I Met Your Father” is currently being released on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in many countries worldwide. The series is set in the near future, where Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2022 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.
In a recent episode, there was a scene with Sophie (Hilary Duff) having a flashback from her teenage years, which is actually a scene from the classic Disney Channel series, “Lizzie McGuire.
During a recent interview with Shape, Hilary Duff shared an insight into the scene and was a nod to all the fans of the original “Lizzie McGuire” series, which was supposed to have a revival series on Disney+, but it was cancelled over creative difficulties after two episodes were filmed, since Disney+ was very much focused on family-friendly content when it was being filmed in 2019.
“I don’t think it was enough to satisfy the fact that [the Disney+ Lizzie McGuire revival] project is shelved”
But Hilary hasn’t fully given up on the “Lizzie McGuire” revival series just yet, explaining that she is still optimistic about the project possibly coming to life at some point:
“Disney+ was very new and I think they were figuring out their… and we were figuring out our… and I am optimistic,”
Hilary also explained how while she would love to do the revival series, there is a ticking clock going, as she is adamant about not wanting to be a 40-year-old playing the teenager, and she is 35 years old now.
The first season, along with the first half of the second season of “How I Met Your Father”, is available to stream now on Hulu and on Disney+ in many countries. The original “Lizzie McGuire” series is also available to stream now on Disney+.
