One of the most exciting parts of the all-new Disney+ show ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ is the addition of Hayden Christensen coming back as the Sith Lord himself, Darth Vader. In the new series, we are promised the rematch of the century as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Jedi apprentice turned Sith Lord Darth Vader.
As you know, the two last saw each other on Mustafar where Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker battled as Anakin turned to the Dark Side with some manipulation from Palpatine.
As we await this epic rematch, we also have all have been wondering if this is the last time we will see Hayden Christensen step back into the role of Darth Vader. Well, in an interview with TotalFilm, Hayden Christensen teased just that:
‘When George [Lucas] had brought me onto the prequels, it was to play Anakin, He gets knighted as Darth Vader towards the end, and for a couple of scenes I get to put the suit on. But my journey with the character was with Anakin Skywalker. But the character? He’s such a complex character. And now, getting to explore the mindset and the emotional state of Darth Vader, has been a lot of fun.
The extent of this journey, I think, remains to be seen, but what a privilege to get to come back and do this, and to be a part of this project.”
It is worth noting as well when asked if James Earl Jones returns to this series as well as the voice of Darth Vader; Hayden Christensen provided just a “no comment“.
Hayden Christensen is also rumored to be returning to the role in the upcoming Disney+ series ‘Ahsoka’ as well but that is not confirmed yet by LucasFilm. Star Wars Celebration is coming up at the end of May, so we are hoping to get more official casting news from the convention.
