Following the news that “Good Trouble” would not be returning for a sixth season, the series’ stars have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the cancellation.

“Good Trouble” follows the residents of Downtown Los Angeles’ The Coterie as they juggle career, love, and friendship and learn that standing up for what you believe in requires making a little noise and getting into trouble.

Maia Mitchell shared a Instagram story that said:

“10 years of making TV with my best friend.  Could not be more proud of you [Cierra].”

While Cierra Ramirez shared a long note on Instagram thanking the cast, crew and fans for the ten year’s that she’s worked on the show.

So many emotions right now after hearing that our beloved show, Good Trouble, has come to an end. The greatest one of all, being gratitude.
Both Good Trouble & The Fosters have shaped me into the person I am today. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to play a character on a show for 10+ years that has helped get important conversations started, pushed for transformative change in the world, & has inspired people to be themselves & find a place of comfort. Thank you to everyone at Freeform & Hulu for giving us a platform to do that for all these years.

To my fearless leaders. The reason for it all! Joanna Johnson, Chris Sacani, Peter Paige, Bradley Bredeweg, Gregg Gugliotta. I wouldn’t even know where to begin on how thankful I am….but I am forever indebted to you. Thank you for your beautiful & talented minds, your friendship, your guidance, your trust & most of all for believing in me & choosing me to be your Mariana. I love you for life.

To my Mariana Adams Foster. Oh, Miss Thang, have you a been a piece of work since the moment I first read that name…but you’re my favorite piece of work. You’ve helped pave a way for girls who look like me on tv, gave people a sense of belonging, & proved that everyone is worthy of taking up space in rooms that aren’t always accepting. I will always be thankful for that. I can’t tell if there’s a part of me in you, or if you ARE me at this point, but nonetheless I will alwaysssss carry your sass, resilience & willingness to give to others. Oh, & you best believe I’ll never let someone tell me I can’t do something I’ve set my mind to;)

To the absolute gifts that are our writers, thank you for pouring literal blood, sweat & tears into our show. You always always alwayssss kept me on my toes, kept me hooked on every line, & made me fall in love with every character.

Last but certainly not least, our fans. Oh my goodness, where to begin?!? Thank you for opening up your homes to us. One of my most favorite things about this experience is getting to meet so many beautiful people who related to this show, or saw themselves in it. It made it ALL the more worth it. This has been one of the biggest joys of my life, & I owe it ALL to you, your love, dedication & time that you’ve given us. Thanks for letting me grow up with you, my forever family What an era. The final part of our series, Good Trouble, airs January 2nd on Freeform, next day on Hulu. Hope to see you there!

“Good Trouble” stars Maia Mitchell, Cierra Ramirez, Tommy Martinez, Emma Hunton, Sherry Cola, Zuri Adele, Beau Mirchoff and Josh Pence.

The series was created by Joanna Johnson, Peter Paige and Bradley Bredeweg. Johnson serves as executive producer along with Greg Gugliotta, Chris Sacani, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Maia Mitchell, and Cierra Ramirez.

The second half of the fifth season will return on Freeform with new episodes on January 2nd 2024, with episodes available the next day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.    And the cast is going to come back together to shoot some extra scenes for the finale to wrap the show up properly.

Executives had wanted the show to return for another season, but they couldn’t justify the costs of doing so due to the show getting lower ratings, which will likely be even lower with Freeform no longer available on some cable platforms like Spectrum.

The previous seasons of “Good Trouble” are now available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States.  The show is also available to stream on Disney+ internationally.
