As part of FOX’s Upfront event for advertisers, a brand new two-hour special called “The Real Full Monty” has been announced. It will feature a daring group of male celebrities who volunteer to bare all to raise awareness for prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer testing and research.

The special is based on the British Searchlight Pictures movie, “The Full Monty”, which saw some former workers of a steel factory putting together a group to create a male strip-tease act, who were willing to go “the Full Monty”, aka completely naked.

The “Real” celebrity version is based on a successful format that originally debuted on ITV in the United Kingdom in 2017 and has since been expanded into Australia, France and the Netherlands.

Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actor, comedian and producer Anthony Anderson (We Are Family, black-ish) rallies a cast of male celebrities, including himself, Taye Diggs (All American, How Stella Got Her Groove Back), Chris Jones (Kansas City Chiefs), Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), Bruno Tonioli (Dancing with the Stars) and James Van Der Beek (Varsity Blues) to encourage men to get checked and strip the stigma around prostate, testicular and colorectal cancer.

Anthony Anderson said in a statement regarding the new special:

“Don’t die of embarrassment. Get checked! That’s the message behind The Real Full Monty special. I am honored to lead the charge of rallying these fearless men to bare it all, in order to provoke, inspire and in this case, beg you to get screened for cancer. That’s our goal…so what are you waiting for!?”

During the two-hour special, Anderson will lead Diggs, Jones, Posey, Tonioli and Van Der Beek as they train and rehearse for the most revealing performance of their careers, culminating with a big strip-tease dance, choreographed by Emmy Award-winner Mandy Moore, where they will bare all in front of a live audience. Leading up to the final disrobing, the men will push their limits of comfortability, modesty and brotherhood with a series of rehearsals and experiences, both private and public, designed to build confidence and remove them far from their comfort zone and strengthen their bond as a group. Along the way, each of the celebrities will share their personal stories of how cancer has impacted their lives.

The special is set to debut Fall 2024 on FOX and as part of a multi-year deal with Disney, expect to see the special available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ the day after it premieres on FOX.

FOX’s “The Real Full Monty” is produced by Spun Gold TV (a 53 Degrees Global company) and FOX Alternative Entertainment. “The Real Full Monty” is executive produced by Anthony Anderson, Dan Norris and Ashley Edens, who also serves as showrunner. Executive producers from Spun Gold include Nick Bullen and Daniela Neumann. The recent sequel series to the original film is also available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.

Roger’s POV: The UK version of “The Real Full Monty” has been a huge success, raising awareness of cancer among men, while also entertaining people along the way and raising money for charity. Hopefully this new version will do the same in America and save some lives.
