Earlier this year, Disney’s FX and Searchlight Pictures released a brand new series, “The Full Monty”, which was a follow-on from the original British film from the 1990s.

The series takes place 25 years after the original British smash hit and follows the same band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield, and society’s crumbling healthcare, education, and employment sectors. The comedy-drama will uncover what happened to the gang after they put their kit back on, exploring their brighter, sillier and more desperate moments. It will also highlight how the fiercely funny world of these working-class heroes – still residing in Sheffield – has changed in the intervening decades.

“The Full Monty” was released on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ around the world in June. Disney hasn’t officially announced if another season of the show will be coming out, but according to The Sun, Disney is contemplating bringing the show back for another season, though with some tweaks to the format. With a source saying:

“It looks like Disney+ are considering the go-ahead on a second series of The Full Monty. Talks are ongoing about whether it will make it, but everyone felt there was so much promise behind revisiting the story, and a few tweaks could make a second series land better. Discussions are underway, with some influential people behind the scenes trying their best to make it happen.”

It was also recently revealed by the show’s leading actor, Robert Carlyle, that both the BBC and Channel 4 had turned down the reboot before Disney+ picked it up as an original.

Unfortunately, the series wasn’t as popular as the original film, which pulled in over $258 million at the box office, on a film with a $3.5 million budget. Many fans of the film were disappointed with the show, and it was slammed by critics, however:

“The ratings, and the negative comments from its viewers, haven’t put anyone off giving the series another look.”

“The Full Monty” is available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.
