The AFLW is turned on its head when one of the underdogs knocks upsets the heavy favorite in the latest episode of the Hulu and Disney+ Original Series, “Fearless: The Inside Story of the AFLW.” We get to see how the underdogs react after the big win and see how the favorites handle themselves following the shocking loss. We also learn more about the women who have to work other jobs to help support their efforts as football players.

I have to admit this was my least favorite episode of the season so far. I enjoy seeing the physicality of the football, but I’m just not into the underdog storyline this time. I like the individual underdog stories of the woman who has been trying for years and finally gets to play in a game over a lesser team beating a superior team in one game. Those are great moments, but they don’t make for a very compelling docuseries for me.

The part of this episode I did like was the interpersonal stories of the women. I liked learning about how they work other jobs to help fund this adventure. It would be great if these women could play the sport professionally without having to have a second job, but it would also be great if people all over the world could work more important jobs without having to work a second job to get by. I still loved learning who they are and what makes them how they are. That makes a compelling docuseries for me.

While this is my least favorite episode of the series, so far, I’m very invested in this series. I kind of want to find a way to watch the AFLW here in the US to check it out for myself. I’m rooting for these women. I’m rooting for this league. I can’t wait to see how this docuseries finishes.
