Pixar is without doubt one of the most important studios for Disney, as the team is behind many epic franchises such as “Cars”, “Toy Story” and “Monsters Inc”.

While we’ve seen several projects released on Disney+ each year, generally, we are seeing the studio scale back its output as it refocuses on theatrical releases and less on quantity and more on quality.  This means that Disney+ subscribers are going to be getting far fewer new animated shorts, series or films to watch, but the ones that will be released, will be even better!

Currently, Pixar only has two major releases planned in 2025, though that doesn’t mean that’s all we will get since an unannounced short or two might also hit the streaming service in the future.

Here’s a look at what Pixar’s bringing to Disney+ in 2025:

Win Or Lose

“Win or Lose” reveals what it actually feels like to be in the shoes of eight different characters in the week leading up to the big game—the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, even a lovesick umpire—with incredibly funny, very emotional and uniquely animated perspectives.

Featuring the voice of Will Forte as the coach, “Win or Lose” is directed, written and executive produced by Carrie Hobson and Michael
Yates, and produced David Lally.

“Win Or Lose” will be the first full series to be released by Pixar and will consist of eight episodes, each following a new character.

This series was initially announced to be coming to Disney+ in late 2024, but its release date was moved to February 19th 2025.

Elio

Elio is a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. So, when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.

This film has been directed by Madeline Sharafian (“Burrow” Sparkshort), Domee Shi (“Bao” short, “Turning Red”) and Adrian Molina (co-screenwriter/co-director of “Coco”), and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (associate producer of “Coco”), the film features the voices of Zoe Saldaña as Aunt Olga, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa, and Yonas Kibreab as the title character.

“Elio” is going to be released in cinemas on June 13th 2025, so expect to see it arrive on Disney+ a few months later.
