Disney Hosts “Pompeii: Out of Time With Tom Hiddleston” Premiere In London
Just ahead of the release of the new National Geographic series, “Pompeii: Out of Time with Tom Hiddleston”, Disney hosted a special premiere event at the British Museum in London on Thursday evening.
In this series, Tom Hiddleston uncovers, with the help of a team of archaeologists, historians, geologists and disaster experts, remarkable evidence and the stories of real people that challenge long-held assumptions about Pompeii and its final hours – not least revealing that many of those caught up in the disaster had the chance to survive. Blending archaeological discoveries, expert analysis and deeply personal storytelling, “Pompeii: Out of Time” reframes Pompeii not as a story of destruction, but as a human drama of resilience, sacrifice and survival, revealing the lives, choices and destinies of those who stood in the shadow of Vesuvius.
The premiere event was attended by talent from the three-part docu-drama, including Tom Hiddleston, Executive Producer Kevin R. Wright, Showrunner and Director Tom Barbor-Might, Geologist Chris Jackson, Survival Psychologist Sarita Robinson, Historian Steven Tuck and Archaeologists Darius Arya and Caitlín Eilís Barrett.
Additional guests in attendance included TV personality Sam Thompson, Ancient Historian & Archaeologist Dr Jess Venner, Author Caroline Lawrence, writer Daisy Dunn, and other notable names, including Theo Farrant, Bella Roberts and Zainab Jiwa.
Following an introduction from premiere host Ali Plumb and National Geographic President of Content Courteney Monroe, guests were treated to an exclusive preview of episodes one and two. Tom Hiddleston transported the audience to ancient Rome in the hours before and during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, before joining an insightful in-person Q&A with additional talent from the series. The evening concluded with an exclusive themed reception within the British Museum.
