Disney+ Bringing Back “The Mickey Mouse Club”

If there is one thing that Disney loves to do when trying to come up with ideas for new shows for Disney+, is looking back at its past for inspiration and has ordered a pilot for a new reboot of the iconic “The Mickey Mouse Club” has been greenlit for Disney+.

The original show was created by Walt Disney back in 1955 and ran for four seasons until 1959. It has been revived on a number of occasions in the 70s, 80s, and most recently in 2017 as a social media version. The most successful version launched in 1989 as “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club”, that launched the careers of Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

This new show will star many of the cast of the new “Camp Rock 3” film, Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter and Brooklynn Pitts, along with Erianthe Akaata (“Young Rock”), Scarlett London Diviney (“The Lion King”), Michael Cash (“Black Rabbit”), Yonas Kibreab (“Elio”), Varonica Mitchell, Kauani, Scarlett Grace Petty and Carter Barnes.

Disney has given the project a pilot, which is set to begin production in Los Angeles later this month by Fulwell Entertainment, which is the company behind the mega hit, “The Kardashians”.

It will be executive produced by Fulwell co-founder Ben Winston, Ashley Edens, Emma Conway and Dave Piendak.

Disney is constantly able to find new exciting new young talent to bring to our screens for new movies and shows, so this type of variety show could be exactly what Disney+ needs. However, the big question is going to be is whether or not it will work with the new generation of younger kids, who have grown up on social media. When the show became popular in the 80’s and 90’s, the internet wasn’t around and so was able to reach a generation for decades. This new version, hopefully, will have the talent to get kids interested and watching television again.
