New casting details have been revealed for the upcoming Disney+ series Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.  Deadline has reported that Emma Meisel (American Horror Story: 1984) and Matt Soto (Nickelodeon’s “Side Hustle”) have joined this show.

This new upcoming Disney+ series is currently filming in Hawaii and in this 10-episode comedy, it follows Lahela “Doogie” Kameāloha, a mixed-race 16-year-old girl, juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager. Guiding Lahela (and also complicating things) is her family, including her spit-fire Irish mother called Dr. Clara Hannon, who’s also her supervisor at the hospital, and her Hawaiian “Local Boy” father called Benny, who is struggling to accept that his daughter is no longer his little girl.

Emma Meisel will play Steph Denisco, who is Lahela’s best friend, as well as romantic consigliere, who has a penchant for making an entrance.   She has also starred in The Dead Girls Detective Agency and The Kids Are Alright.

Most recently, Matt will be playing ‘Kai’ in Disney +’s “Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.” ‘Kai’ is the brother of Dr. Lahela Kamealoha, the series lead.  Past acting credits for Matt include “Hawaii Five-0”, “Chicken Girls”, and Ghosts.

It was written and executive produced by Kourtney Kang and produced by 20th Television. Jake Kasdan, Melvin Mar and Dayna and Jesse Bochco will executive produce.
