During today’s quarterly financial results call, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the ad-supported tier (Disney+ Basic) will launch in Europe by the end of 2023.

The ad-supported tier launched in the United States in December 2022, and last year, it was revealed that Disney+ would be rolling out an advertising tier internationally in 2023.

No pricing details have been announced for the ad-supported tier, but it was confirmed that the ad-supported tier in the US would get a price rise later this year.  Currently, Disney+ in the US offers two tiers, Disney+ Premium at $10.99 and Disney+ Basic $7.99 a month.    So it’s unlikely that the price of the ad-supported tier will be less than the current price.

More details on the European rollout of the Ad-Supported tier will be revealed at a later date, such as prices, release date and what countries it will roll out in.

The addition of the ad-supported tier in the US has been a success for Disney+ and will help bring more revenue for the streaming platform to make it more profitable.
