This Easter, Disney released a brand new British original series called “Renegade Nell”, which follows Nell Jackson, a quick-witted and courageous young woman finds herself framed for murder and unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in 18th-century England. But when a magical spirit called Billy Blind appears, Nell realizes her destiny is bigger than she ever imagined.

The series stars Louisa Harland (Derry Girls) in the leading role of “Nell Jackson” with Frank Dillane as “Charles Devereux”, Alice Kremelberg as “Sofia Wilmot”, Ényì Okoronkwo as “Rasselas”, Jake Dunn as “Thomas Blancheford”, Bo Bragason as “Roxy Trotter”, Florence Keen as “George Trotter”, with Nick Mohammed as “Billy Blind”, Joely Richardson as “Lady Eularia Moggerhangar” and Adrian Lester as “Robert Hennessey, Earl of Poynton”. Pip Torrens as “Lord Blancheford” and Craig Parkinson as “Sam Trotter” also star.

In the final scene of the season finale, there is a hint that the show could continue.  The show’s director, Ben Taylor, spoke with Radio Times to promote the series and confirmed that work has already begun on the second season.

“We’re now in the process of writing a possible second series.  So you’re able to take stock and figure out what would be the 2.0 version and focus on the stuff that was really working and do more of that.

Ben also confirmed that since the first season was filmed over a year ago and to factor in the younger actors getting older, if there is a second season, there will be a time jump.

I think there’s gonna be a time jump, because we shot this over a year ago. So I think it’s buying that and buying the thought that it’s been that many years since we caught up with these characters, partly just for the age – Roxy and George are going to be visibly two years older.”

Ben was a little careful with what he was saying, without giving anything away.

“I wish I could tell you, but there is some crazy, crazy stuff in store.”

Since a second season hasn’t yet been confirmed, it will likely depend on how many people watch the series.  The show has already trended on Disney+, but with Disney cutting back on how much content it makes, hopefully, it will perform well enough to return for another season.

You can watch the first season of “Renegade Nell” on Disney+ now.
