Later this year, Disney is going to raise the prices of its streaming services, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+, once again in the United States on October 17th 2024.   Disney previously put up its priced in the fall of 2023.

  • The new prices will see Disney+ with ads rise to from $7.99 to $9.99 per month, while the ad-free tier will be going from $13.99 to $15.99.
  • The price of Hulu will also be rising, Hulu with ads will be going from $7.99 to $9.99, while the ad free tier will increase a dollar to $18.99 a month.
  • ESPN+ will also be rising by a dollar to $11.99 a month.
  • However, the Duo Basic plan, which includes the ad-supported version of Hulu and Disney+ is going up by a dollar to $10.9 and the Duo Premuim without ads will stay at $19.99.
  • The Hulu + Live TV ad-supported bundle will be rising from $76.99 to $82.99, while the ad-free tier is going from $89.99 to $95.99.
  • The Disney Streaming Bundle, which includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ will also see a price rise of two dollars, going to $16.99 a month with ads and $26.99.
  • The new Hulu + Disney+ Max bundle will continue to cost the same, which is $16.99 with ads and $29.99 without ads.

Here’s a look at the full price chart:

Disney hasn’t announced if price rises will be following in other countries, but its likely this will happen at some point, as annual subscription costs continue to rise.

With Disney trying to ensure its streaming service business is profitable, it’s continuing to rise prices but is using the bundles to try to reduce churn.

Roger’s Take:  This price rise feels like a wrong decision to do this prior to the eventual merge of Hulu and Disney+, because right now, the price of having the duo bundle for $10.99 is a no-brainer if you have either platform.    Disney+ has been having fewer and fewer new original releases and the price rises do feel over the top.  Especially without ads, which is why Disney is trying to push more people towards it.    The price of Hulu+Live TV also feels like it’s going to push more people to “cut the cord”, as it inches closer to $100 a month.
