“The Imagineering Story” Season 2 Coming Soon To Disney+
One of the first Disney+ Originals released on the streaming platform, “The Imagineering Story” chronicles the sixty-seven-year history of Walt Disney Imagineering, a place best described as equal parts artist studio, design centre, think tank and innovation laboratory. This is where an eclectic group of creative people bring ideas to life. They’re responsible for building twelve theme parks around the world – the Happiest Places on Earth.
During the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress presentation at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, filmmaker Leslie Iwerks and the Walt Disney Imagineering President and Chief Creative Officer Bruce Vaughn revealed that the show is returning for a second season.
The second season of “The Imagineering Story” is officially in production and will be coming to Disney+ in 2028.
For nearly 75 years, Walt Disney Imagineers have been turning those ideas into experiences that connect with generations of guests around the world. During the presentation, Bruce reflected on that legacy, tracing Imagineering’s roots back to the creative team Walt Disney assembled to help bring Disneyland to life.
Leslie Iwerks spoke during the panel to explain why the second season is happening:
“So a few years ago when it was revealed that dozens of new projects were on the way, you and I started talking about how there may be a new chapter in this tale. Turns out … there are several.”
A teaser trailer for the second season has also been released:
The trailer gives us a hint at what’s to come, with the creation of the new attractions at its theme parks around the world, including the new Frozen world, along with the upcoming new Disney Cruise Line ships.
The first season of “The Imagineering Story” is available to stream now on Disney+, and Leslie’s new documentary, “Disney Worldbuilders”, will be released on Disney+ today.
Roger’s Take: Personally, “The Imagineering Story” is one of my favourite Disney+ Originals, and I’m really glad to hear the show is returning for a second season, especially as there are so many projects in development that they can document and hopefully also reveal some stories from the past.
