On October 16th, the Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and the company has announced some of details on how it will be celebrating this month that have made the company so special to so many over the last 100 years.

Disney will be having special activations, tie-ins, and more throughout the month, including on Disney+, where the app has been decked out with a logo acknowledging the 100th anniversary as well as a special collection of films and series from throughout the decades. Disney is also releasing some classic shorts this coming Friday.

Also coming out for the anniversary, is the highly anticipated Once Upon a Studio, a special short film that assembles some of Disney’s most iconic characters—everyone from Mickey to Moana—to take a group photo in honour of the company’s 100th. Once Upon a Studio will make its broadcast debut on Sunday, 15th October 2023, as part of ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration!, hosted by Kelly Ripa. The short will be available the following day on Disney+, just in time for the anniversary.

Disney will also be re-releasing The Lion King and Moana in theatres in the United States this month to showcase two of its most popular and beloved animated films as part of its Disney100 special engagements. The Lion King runs from September 29th to October 12th, and Moana follows right after from October 13th–26th, 2023.

There will also be some special events taking place at the Disney theme parks around the world, plus a special event called “Disney100: D23 Royal Anniversary Ball” will be held at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank on October 15th.
