Disney is once again taking a stab at bringing back the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, as the Hollywood Reporter has reported that Disney has hired Ted Elliott (who helped write the first four Pirates movies, along with the Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin to help them develop a new story.

This isn’t the first team to take a stab at a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, as Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, had previously been hired to write the next movie, but left the project.

Jerry Bruckheimer will be returning to produce the movie, but it’s unknown if Johnny Depp will be returning to the franchise as Captain Jack Sparrow.  As it had previously been reported that the next movie wouldn’t feature Captain Jack, but with the Deadpool writers leaving, that idea might have also gone.
