In late 2023, Disney launched a beta version of Hulu On Disney+ in the United States for Disney Streaming Bundle subscribers.  The roll out is currently in a beta mode before the official launch in March 2024. 

Hulu On Disney+ offers a Hulu hub within Disney+ that features thousands of movies and series from Hulu’s library from studios, including 20th Century Studios, FX, ABC Signature Studios and Searchlight Pictures.

During the quarterly financial results, Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke about the launch of Hulu On Disney+.

We’ve already seen an incredible response to the beta launch of Hulu on Disney+, which has far exceeded every metric, and we are looking forward to the full launch next month. This is all part of the ambitious streaming strategy we’ve been building, from our acquisition of 21st Century Fox that expanded our vast content library and strong pool of creative talent, to the launch of Disney+ as the home to a century of content, to securing full control of Hulu and expanding our streaming offerings to reach greater audiences, to our significant investments in technology

The addition of Hulu On Disney+ brings Disney+ more in line with how the streaming service operates outside of the United States, which includes a Star hub, featuring Disney’s general entertainment for adults.   This coming summer, in Latin America, its streaming service, Star+ (which is a hybrid between ESPN+ and Hulu), will be merged into Disney+.

No more details have been revealed about how things will change when Hulu On Disney+ launches officially in March, but we should expect to see some major differences in how Disney+ looks.   Even people who aren’t subscribed to Hulu will still see the new hub, as it will become more integrated into the platform.

Eventually, it’s likely we will see Hulu and Disney+ officially merge together, but it might be a while off yet, since Disney still needs to complete the purchase of Comcast’s stake, which is expected to finalise later this year.

With the official launch of Hulu On Disney+ coming in March, hopefully, we get more details soon.
