20th Television’s “The Resident” will be returning for a sixth season this Fall and according to Deadline, in this sixth season, Andrew McCarthy has become a series regular.

“The Resident” is a powerful medical show focusing on a young doctor’s final years of training that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country.

In the series, Andrew McCarthy plays the role of Dr. Ian Sullivan, a nationally renowned pediatric surgeon and new hire at Chastain. His groundbreaking surgeries rescue the most vulnerable patients and make him key to the hospital’s financial stability. But as Ian’s demons emerge, both his daughter, Dr. Cade Sullivan (Kaley Ronayne) and our doctors face a dilemma. Where do you draw the line with a doctor whose own life is spiralling dangerously out of control, even as the keeps saving lives?  The character of Dr. Ian Sullivan was introduced in the previous season.

Andrew McCarthy has previously starred in “St. Elmo’s Fire”, “Pretty in Pink”, “Mannequin”, and “Weekend at Bernie’s”.

“The Resident” is available on Hulu in the United States and is also released exclusively on Disney+ in many countries including the United Kingdom.
