“Willow” Early Social Media Reactions Revealed
One of this winter’s biggest new series on Disney+ is “Willow”, which is a new eight-episode that is a sequel to the classic 1980s film of the same name.
An epic period fantasy series with a modern sensibility set in an enchanted land of breathtaking beauty, “Willow” features a diverse international cast with Jonathan Kasdan, Ron Howard, Wendy Mericle, Kathleen Kennedy, and Michelle Rejwan serving as executive producers.
The story began with an aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness. Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.
Today, following a special screening event in London, the social media embargo has lifted, which means a number of critics can share their early thoughts on the series. I also have seen the first three episodes from the show, and here’s my social media reaction to it.
I've watched the first 3 episodes of the new #Willow #disneyplus series. It's one of the best shows we've seen on Disney+ so far. It's a charming adventure, with some interesting characters & is certainly not a show to be overlooked. "Willow" is a must-watch. 1st Ep on Nov 30th pic.twitter.com/HvvtmGZamg

And here are some reactions from other critics:
Lucky to see episodes 1-3 of @WillowOfficial and it’s fantastic. It’s overwhelmingly charming and funny. @JonKasdan sets up a thrilling adventure with characters that are real and relatable, while honoring the magic of the original #Willow film. Can’t wait for what comes next! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/JcdomYjtiZ

I had no expectations going into #Willow, and ended up absolutely enjoying it. Fun fantasy and adventure with heart and drama. The new characters are all instantly lovable, and the returning cast is as great as ever. Ruby Cruz and Erin Kellyman easily steal the show. pic.twitter.com/iqN0RX30KV

I've been a fan of the original film for as long as I can remember, and I can honestly say that #Willow on @DisneyPlus keeps the same heart and spirit. It's filled with so much fantasy and adventure. It's everything I could have asked for. You won't be disappointed. pic.twitter.com/1qlDnkeI5d

Had the chance to watch the first 3 episodes of #Willow and…well, I don't know. I love the characters and it's clear the actors are having a blast with genuine chemistry between them all. Dug the humor and interactions, but the story feels like one fantasy trope after another. pic.twitter.com/Oz7Rsh2FRy

With 3 episodes #Willow offers unexpected thematic maturity & character depth to counter-balance the magical whimsy from the original film.

After the first 3 episodes of Willow, I'm REALLY digging it. Of course, it's great to see Warwick Davis back as the iconic character, but it is the newcomers who are stealing the show. An adventure fantasy that will have long time fans & new ones hooked from the start! #Willow pic.twitter.com/9dNovKiCw4

#Willow is a legacy sequel done right! A surge of nostalgia wrapped in a compelling and entertaining story. A proper continuation of a film that many hold near and dear to their hearts.
