20th Century Studios’ next big movie release is “The Amateur”, which tells the story of Charlie Heller, who is a brilliant but deeply introverted decoder for the CIA working out of a basement office at headquarters in Langley whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack. When his supervisors refuse to take action, he takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, his intelligence serving as the ultimate weapon for eluding his pursuers and achieving his revenge.

The film also stars Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, Adrian Martinez, Danny Sapani, and Laurence Fishburne.

“The Amateur” is directed by James Hawes. The screenplay is by Ken Nolan and Gary Spinelli based on the novel by Robert Littell. The film is produced by Hutch Parker, Dan Wilson, Rami Malek, Joel B. Michaels, with JJ Hook serving as executive producer.

When Is “The Amateur” Released?

“The Amateur” is being released exclusively in cinemas on April 11th 2025.

When Will “The Amateur” Be On Disney+ & Hulu?

Currently, no official Hulu or Disney+ release date has yet been announced. As with other 20th Century Studio releases, we should expect to see “The Amateur” released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.

Generally, Disney keeps movies in cinemas for much longer than most other studios, usually taking about 100 days from a theatrical release to a streaming release on Hulu and Disney+. The latest title, “Alien: Romulus,” took 97 days to go from cinemas to Hulu/Disney+, and “The Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes” took about 85 days.

Based on previous 20th Century Studio releases, I estimate “The Amateur” will arrive on Hulu and Disney+ in mid-July 2025.

Disney+ updates daily at the following times:

• Sydney, Australia – 19:00 PM

Sometimes, films can arrive a few minutes later as the servers update. The Disney+ front page usually updates about an hour later.
