Every week Disney+ is dropping some excellent new content for its subscribers. We’ll take a closer look at some of the things to watch this weekend on Disney+.

OBI-WAN KENOBI

For the “Star Wars” fan, Disney+ is looking at Obi-Wan Kenobi’s mission to rescue Leia Organa. It’s a crucial mission during the time between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope” that brings Obi-Wan back together with Darth Vader while Obi-Wan tries to evade the Inquisitors introduced during “Rebels.” This episode features a rescue within the rescue. The Third Sister has possession of Leia but Obi-Wan is able to recruit some help to infiltrate the facility and use the force to get her free. Now, he must find a way to get her safely to Alderaan while being hunted by Inquisitors and Darth Vader. There are currently 4 episodes available on Disney+.

MS. MARVEL

Disney+ introduces us to the latest superhero in the Marvels line with Ms. Marvel. It tells the story of a 16-year-old Pakistani-American girl trying to navigate the life of a teenager and a Muslim in New Jersey who is granted superpowers. For the comic book fans out there, her powers will be different than presented in the comics. It’s still a solid entry in the MCU that introduces a new, younger superhero. Currently, one episode is available on Disney+

BEYOND INFINITY: BUZZ AND THE JOURNEY TO LIGHTYEAR

For the Pixar fan, “Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear” gives us a look at the evolution of Buzz Lightyear from a toy space ranger in the “Toy Story” films right up to the upcoming “Lightyear” that tells the story of the actual Buzz Lightyear who inspired the toy. We’ll also see the challenges the Pixar crew experienced along the way. As a fan of Disney, Pixar and documentaries, I love learning about Buzz Lightyear. It gives a great look at the man who inspired the toy, the toy himself and how “Lightyear” will connect to the “Toy Story” franchise.

ULTRA VIOLET AND BLACK SCORPION

Disney+ also has a superhero show for the kids. “Ultra Violet and Black Scorpion” tells the story of a Mexican teen who is chosen by a luchador wrestling mask to become a superhero, alongside her luchador uncle. This is a fun series for kids who are fans of action, superheroes or professional wrestling. The first season is currently available on Disney+.

BIG HERO 6

And if you are in the mood for legacy content, check out “Big Hero 6.” With the introduction of the “BayMax Shorts” this week and the “BayMax” series coming up soon, it’s nice to go back and watch the film where the character was introduced. This is one of my favorite Disney films from the 2010s. It perfectly blends the Marvel story with the Disney animation style and gives us someone who is a lot of fun to root for. Plus, it tells a great story of heroism, grief, vengeance and forgiveness.

That’s a look at some of the things to check out on Disney+ this weekend. What will you be watching?
