Tim Allen Teases Pixar’s Upcoming Movie “Toy Story 5”
One of the first movies announced by Bob Iger when he returned as the CEO was that Pixar was developing a fifth instalment in the “Toy Story” franchise.
The new movie will see the popular toys return and this time around it’s Toy meets Tech. Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs get exponentially harder when they go head to head with this all-new threat to playtime. Some concept art from the film was also recently revealed at D23 Brazil.
“Toy Story 5” will be directed by Andrew Stanton, co-directed by McKenna Harris and produced by Jessica Choi.
Recently, while promoting his new series, “Shifting Gears”, Tim Allen has revealed in an interview with Collider that he has recently completed his first session for the upcoming animated film.
“Well, I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. Yes, I just did the first five-hour session for Buzz, probably a week ago. It’s really, really weird to get back in it. I can’t tell you anything.”
Tim also shared a small update on the movie
“It’s a very, very clever story. Do you wanna do five of these? I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s really clever. It was really a struggle to get, and then maybe two hours in, I was doing Buzz. I’m so blessed to be Buzz Lightyear, to be honest. It’s gonna be fun. I think we’re a year out. I’ve gotten up to the third act. We’ll do the third act. And then, we’ll go back and clean it. And then, I’ll do it about five more times. It’s a really good story, guys. It’s really good.”
“Toy Story 5” is coming to theaters on June 19th, 2026 and we should expect to see it arrive on Disney+ in late 2026.
The previous four “Toy Story” films and many of the shorts are available to stream now on Disney+.
Roger’s Take: With the film set to hit cinemas in just over 18 months, it makes sense that work is already well underway to get the film ready for release, and with the way that Pixar makes its movies, Tim will be likely jumping back into that booth many more times before the movie is released.
