Disney’s ABC Signature Studios is developing a new limited series called “Under The Bridge”, which is based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book.
The series is about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Godfrey takes us into the hidden world of the seven teenage girls and a boy accused of the savage murder, revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.
“Under The Bridge” will star Riley Keough (The Terminal List) in the main role of the late author Godfrey and she will also be an executive producer.
Variety has reported that Chloe Guidry, Izzy G, and Ezra Faroque Khan have joined the cast as series regulars.
Chloe Guidry will star as Josephine Bell, who is described as “a striking ice-queen with a razor-sharp tongue. As a ward of the state, she’s the girl in charge at Seven Oaks Youth Home. She is leader of the CMC (Crip Mafia Cartel, a “gang” she and her friends started) and dreams of growing up to be a hitman for New York mobster John Gotti.” Chloe has previously starred in Amazon’s “The Last Tycoon” and Disney’s “Secrets of Sulphur Springs”.
Izzy G will play Kelly Ellard. The character is said to be “Josephine’s best friend — if Josephine is John Gotti, Kelly is Sammy the Bull. Despite her middle-class upbringing and ‘good-girl’ appearance, Kelly is a founding member of the CMC and will do anything to prove her loyalty to her crew.” Izzy has recently appeared in CBS’s “B Positive” and Netflix’s “AJ and the Queen”.
Ezra Faroque Khan will play the role of Manjit Virk, Reena’s father. The character is described as “a gentle soul trying his best to understand his daughter during her adolescent transformation, although the emotional scars she has inflicted are raw.” Ezra has previously starred in Hulu’s “The Great” and ITV’s “DI Ray”.
Samir Mehta and Liz Tigelaar, will also serve as showrunners and executive producers on the show. Quinn Shephard is adapting the book. Other executive producers are Gina Gammell, Stacey Silverman and Geeta Vasant Patel, who will also direct.
“Under The Bridge” will be released on Hulu in the United States, and it’s likely to be released as a Star Original around the world.
