Earlier this year, Disney announced it had greenlight a new original film, “The Pocketwatch”, which is a music- and dance-filled film that is part of the fantastic world created in “Descendants”, which features teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most iconic classic characters and infamous villains.

Disney announced that production on the film is set to begin production in the fall, and the DisInsider has revealed that filming is scheduled to being on September 5th 2022, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.   Disney is also currently filming the Disney+ series “Percy Jackson & The Olympians” along with the Disney+ Original film, “Peter Pan & Wendy”, and the upcoming Disney+ series “The Spiderwick Chronicles” around the same time as “The Pocketwatch”.

The new original film will include seven new songs, along with some classic Disney songs.  It will be directed by Jennifer Phang (“Advantageous,” “Half-Life,” “Foundation,” “The Flight Attendant”) and she will also be a co-executive producer of the movie.

The script has been written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer (“Magic: The Gathering”).  The film will also see the return of production designer Mark Hofeling (“Descendants,” “Zombies,” “High School Musical”). Gary Marsh is an executive producer, and the casting directors are Alexis Frank Koczara and Christine Smith Shevchenko.

Hopefully, more details on the new film will be revealed at the upcoming D23 Expo event.
